. . . Or ever will own.

Yes this design is now 15 + years old now, but it was designed as a no-compromise vehicle - Ferdinand Peich's swansong (which I dont understand because he's still around, but never mind).

Underpinnings are shared with the Bentley Continental GT, and you can understand why - air suspension and four wheel drive are excellent. Nearly all UK models have the 3.0l V6, it says VW on it but pretty sure its the Audi power plant - smooth and refined but plenty of pep when you need. Dont boot it, just toe it . . . Gently . . . The rewards are bountifull !

When the new model comes in 2018 it will be based on the Audi A8, and a much inferior car. It will be a scaled down A8, instead of the best possible car VW are capable of making.

I am never going to own such a delightfull vehicle ever again . . .

Not quite the best car I have ever had - the best was a Range Rover. But it is beautifully built and engineered, roomy, has a large load capacity (easily takes four sets of golf clubs)and is a delight to drive, especially on long journeys. I think it could benefit from more powerful brakes, but, apart from that, it's a marvellous car.
