This is a wonderful car and I can't think why Toyota stopped making it. It's like a Tardis, bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside; tall friends love the headroom and passengers are comfortable, even when there are three in the back seat. It's a perfect fit for me, allowing me to slide sideways into the driver's seat with no squatting or twisting needed (my arthritic knees are very grateful). The height of the seating and the large front and back windows give me excellent views of the road ahead and behind.

When I bought it secondhand in 2003, What Car gave it 5 points in every category except looks (I think it looks neat and elegant) and cornering. I agree that in strong side winds the height of the car makes it shudder, but I slow down when that happens. As I do going around corners. The only design flaw I have found in nearly 13 years of happy ownership is that the front doors come to a point at the outside edge, which sometimes catches on the pavement when parking if the road is steeply cambered. And I would prefer front windows to open manually, as the ones in the back seat do, instead of electronically, because it usually takes a series of ups and downs to arrive at where I want them to be when partially open.

The interior design is excellent, especially the overhead pockets for manuals, maps, sunglasses, etc. The back door, opening from left to right, with no lip to get over when sliding in heavy parcels or bags, is brilliant, and the collapsible back seats, to convert the rear into a van, work easliy and well.

This is the perfect car for a city dweller like me. It's only a few inches longer than my previous Renault 5, but the inside is much more spacious, and it has done excellent service as a van when I need to transport furniture, plants or large objects. It is economical to run, totally relieable as well as comfortable. The day I brought it home a cab driver friend gave it (and Toyotas in general) a double thumbs up and said, "That'll see you out!" I had just turned 70, and I sincerely hope he was right.

I've driven my Toyota Yaris Verso for over 4 years now and although its old it runs perfectly. The space inside is phenomenal. Its easy to get in and out of having slightly higher seats, and its totally versatile, as the rear seats fold into the floor and it becomes the equivalent of a van with a large door aperture. At 64 I value the fact that I can regularly wheel my bicycle into the back very easily and drive to the nearest canal or cycle path to ride. Can get 3 grandchildren in the rear seat and was easy for my Mum to get in the front before she became housebound.

I needed a second car for local driving so as to avoid using my 2.2 litre car for inefficient short runs less than 5 miles. This has good comfort and style. Initially a little expensive, bought new, but hopefully long term saving due to toyota reliability and durability.
