The late '90s was a 'golden generation' for Japanese hatchbacks and this is one is no exception.
Pros: low running costs (36mpg); super reliable; deceptively spacious; comfortable cruising at motorway speed and around town; looks stylish even now.
Cons: standard headlights poor; rear windscreen at a shallow angle so rear visibility harder than it might be if you're not confident reversing for example; boot lip is high for loading / unloading.
A far more original choice than a Focus or Golf which are its rivals and will turn heads in the way the other two can only dream of.
Now 13 years old, this car just keeps going without giving major problems. OK the bodywork is beginning to show signs of the cars age but otherwise with 120,000 miles on the clock it looks like going for a few years yet!
Even though my car is 10 years old it has only done 36000 miles as I only drive short distances. So compared to th e milage done the running costs Ie taxe and insurance are quite high
On the whole happy enough with the car.
Low roof awkward because of my height.
This car is cheap to run but can be very hard to find spare parts for.
The car is ideal for my needs and is very reliable
Has been very satisfactory, 2nd mazda owned
