I have been driving a Honda Insight now for 6 months. The principal advantage has been the improvement in running costs, with road tax only £10 per year and spending half as much on fuel as I did with my previous car (1998 Ford Focus). So far I have experienced no faults with the car.
The car is extremely quiet during normal running, even when the petrol engine is running, although this does sometimes cause problems when pedestrians can't hear me coming.
The EX model comes with automatic wipers and headlights, which are very useful, although sunny evenings with strong shadows sometimes cause the lights to go on and off unnecessarily. Reversing sensors are also very useful, although they are also necessary given that visibility through the split rear window leaves something to be desired.
The engine cuts out most of the time when stationary, which helps to save fuel, but it is a little annoying that it is necessary to keep my foot on the brake to keep the engine off.
Generally I am satisfied with the car.
This is my second Honda Insight running. It has done everything it says on the tin; gives me 0ver 50 mpg round town and nearly 60 mpg on long runs. It is not the most comfortable car I have driven - seats and leg room OK at best - not as good as previous Volvos. But the reduction in running costs and reliability cannot be faulted. I am pretty satisfied that I got value for money.
I originally wanted a hybrid for green reasons, but, having test driven the Insight I was surprised that the car was very good to drive and positively encouraged me to drive more efficiently.
Zero road tax and 60+ miles to the gallon are features that I value; and the automatic engine cut-off works much better than other cars I have driven with this feature!
My Insight has excellent MPG (49 in mixed driving) and has proved very reliable so far (5 years old). It is not luxurious but is comfortable and has reasonable space inside the cabin.
However, because it is hybrid the boot space is restricted - this is a niggle, but does not affect me in day-to-day running of the car.
In all, a very good purchase.
Very pleased with this car even though petrol consumption is below what the book says it should be. Plenty of space and comfort is good and the only downside I have experienced was failing to start after interior light was left on accidentally. Very impressed with AA engineer.
My car fits the bill for all my requirements - cheap to run, economic, when I haven't left the interior light on over a weekend it always starts! spacious and has a sporty air.
This is my second Honda Hybrid. I am convinced that a Hybrid car is the best option. Distance is not restricted like a fully electric car and the road tax is only £10.
Very pleased with its performance, up to 60 mpg on motorways and 55 mpg around town. Comfortable inside, climate control, automatic gearbox, all excellent.
Good car to have it i like honda and automatic.
Good car happy. With this car.
