I've driven Citroens for 16 years; two Xantias, one C5 and now a DS5 and, without exception and according to their character, I've enjoyed driving them all. My current car is fabulous, if a little intimidating in the early days as some controls are sited in the overhead structure, as well as in the normal positions, which took a bit of getting used to - as did the electronic handbrake. I've purchased all as used cars (one with just 8K miles on the clock) from my main dealer, who I've been using since 2000, and the DS5 has recently had its first service there since I bought it - it was reassuring to find it cost less than I'd anticipated.

The ride is firmer than my previous cars but it's a different beast and it holds the road well and feels very secure. The boot is smaller than the C5 and the roofline drops so tall items are difficult to store but, since retiring from work, I don't find I need the same boot capacity. I'm surprised there's no adjustable lumber support but, having said that, I haven't felt any posture problems so maybe it's not needed. I'm surprised that the fuel economy seems as good as my frugal Xantia HDi was and the display is very helpful in encouraging you to drive economically when needed. There's no reset button for the fuel top up but it tells you how many miles you have left to the next top up - not sure how accurate than can be as it depends on your style of driving and sometimes accelerating faster (legally and safely) is necessary for a bit of adrenaline! My brother-in-law, who drives Range Rovers, etc., was very impressed, remarking that you get a lot for your money with a Citroen.

The SatNav, unfortunately, is not great and will not accept a full postcode but I understand that this is not limited to Citroen and that other makes, such as Audi and BMW, suffer the same problem and there are ways to get around this. However, there are two power sockets so I could take my freestanding SatNav (in addition to my carcam, which uses the other socket) if I needed to. However, a feature that I do appreciate is that it's a relatively rare model and, in the summer, I've noticed Ferraris are more common than DS5s! Certainly, I've had a lot of people wonder, and ask me, what car it is and it's nice to drive something a bit different to the thousands of Corsas, Fiestas, etc on the road. I love my car and driving and, despite being a woman, I did not buy it for its colour - black, rather than a preferred graphite - but for how wide my smile is when I drive it.

I bought my used DS5 Dstyle 2.0HDI 160 BHP 4 months ago and have done some 5,000 miles in it now. It had done 16500 miles when I bought it.

The car has certainly lived up to expectations and is a pleasure to drive. The suspension on some reviews comment that its very hard but in my opinion its not overly stiff and does not feel the bumps in the road anymore so than other vehicles of this type.

Fuel consumption is good returning on average 52mpg and the power is there when you need it.

Negative point I would say was the satnav function that was not very user friendly and did not take 7 digit postcode. After having the firmware updated to 2.8 and getting the latest map set upgrade this has now been solved but you still have to put the postcode in the Town filed instead of there being a separate postcode field.

The cabin layout is excellent with a aircraft style layout and everything is at hand. The seats are comfortable and have good adjustments giving adequate headroom both in the front and rear. A great plus is the large glass roof which allows plenty of light into the cabin. If its too much though the electric blinds that operate separately for front passengers and those in the rear giving the perfect setup for all concerned.

I don't think you would be disappointed in buying a DS5 which I think is a very underrated car.

Absolutely superb car . Can't think of anything bad to say, rear visibility is a bit restricted , but you've got cameras and sensors to assist. One major problem for me ...I just can't stop looking at it . Way better styled than Germany equivalents ...
