Volvo looks to dominate premium estate sector

Volvo has stated its ambition to redefine the premium estate sector and reinforce its dominance of the market this year with the new V70.

According to the company, its new model will offer "a combination of head-turning Scandinavian design, luxury, athleticism and uncompromised load-carrying versatility".

The V70 has been designed to surpass its predecessor in every department, with a more luxurious interior, flexible space for passengers and luggage, a more dynamic driving experience and even better safety credentials.

On the outside, the car has "sleeker and more athletic lines", blacked out side pillars, C30-inspired taillights and a "dynamic" tailgate angle.

A world first will be incorporated inside the car in the shape of an integrated rear child booster seat with two heights. According to Volvo, the seat’s adjustability ensures that seatbelt geometry is optimum regardless of the height of the child.

The V70’s boot aperture will also be enlarged, effectively offering an extra 55 litres of space over the outgoing car.

Under the bonnet of the new model will be an all-new T6 six-cylinder petrol engine with an advanced turbocharger.

This will enable the car to reach 62mph from a standstill in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
