Volvo has released new photographs of its forthcoming S60 Concept car which the company’s president believes is well-placed to take on "the razor-sharp competition".
Used Volvo dealers will be poring over the photos for clues as to how hard their jobwill be in selling it in a few years’ time. If appearances are anything to go by they should have an easy task.
Volvo Cars design director Steve Mattin said: "The concept car’s exterior gives a clear indication of what customers can expect of the all-new S60. On the inside we’ve been even more daring."
Rear parallelogram doors are an example of the design team’s daring approach. The door-opening procedure begins with the pressing of a button, continues with the forward section swinging out away from the car’s body and ends with the door smoothly gliding parallel with the side of the car until it reaches its end position situated next to the rear wheel.
The speedometer is also something to write home about since it comes in the form of a three-dimensional glass spiral.
The car should be available in 2010.
