Volkswagen has announced the debut of its new Tiguan model, stating that the new compact 4×4 will be premiered on the internet.
A microsite has been launched to host the introduction of the new, strikingly designed vehicle, allowing the web audience to view exclusive images and information three months ahead of the Tiguan’s public world debut.
Shots of the car’s final shape will be on display on the web page, before the real thing is unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
As the site expands, there will be information and insights into how the vehicle was developed and brought to the market.
The concept version of the Tiguan was debuted at the Los Angeles motor show last year. It was powered by a BlueTec diesel engine and featured an advanced nitrogen oxide trap converter, designed to reduce the emission of oxides by up to 90 per cent.
Among the finer details of the model’s design are a set of 19-inch Continental tyres with interwoven orange tread and an interior with distressed leather detailing.
The Tiguan, which measures 1.6 metres in height and is similar in bulk to the VW Touran compact MPV, received its name following a poll of more than 350,000 readers of magazines in the AutoBild group.
