German car manufacturer Volkswagen has announced that it will unveil its Touareg R50 model at the Australian International Motor Show this week.
The firm has commented that the car is "among the most powerful sports utility vehicles (SUVs) in the world" and is to unveil the model in Sydney tomorrow.
Accelerating to 100 km per hour in 6.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 235 km per hour, it may be that consumers find themselves racing to dealerships in order to pick up a unit.
Making the model unique is one of the exclusive colours the R50 is available in – a metallic Biscay Blue, which comes in addition to Campanella white, Reflex silver and Black Magic.
"The new Touareg R50 is easy to recognise with its 21-inch Omanyt type alloy wheels and size 295 tires, blue painted brake calipers, discrete wheel well flares, side skirts and distinctive bumpers," said the firm.
Volkswagen this weekend celebrated 60 years of its minivan model – a car often associated with the hippy movement of the 1960s.
