The VW Golf – winner of What Car? Used Car of the Year – tops the ‘most searched for’ car on AA Cars, out of a list of 725 vehicles. Second is the Mercedes C Class and third the Range Rover Sport. At the bottom of the list are two Alphas and two Rolls-Royce.
VW GOLF TOPS ‘MOST VIEWED USED CARS’ TABLE
AA Cars lists cars most – and least – viewed
Over 700 models listed from VW to Rolls-Royce
AA Cars has revealed that the Volkswagen Golf is the used car most viewed by potential buyers, following its accolade as the ‘Used Car of the Year 2013’ by What Car? Magazine.
The Golf achieved just over twice as many online views as the Mercedes C Class in second place. The Range Rover Sport was third.
The data, based on the number of times cars are viewed on the AA Cars website, shows that Volkswagen make three appearances in the top 20 – the others being the Transporter van at number 14, and Passat at number 17.
Three other VW Group cars appear in the top 20 – the Audi A4 is number six, A3 number seven while the TT is at number 10.
Land Rover enjoy two other top-20 positions with the Defender at 16 and Range Rover just squeezing in at 20.
David Bruce, director of AA Cars says:
It’s no surprise that the legendary refinement, reliability and economy of the Golf mean that it appears to be the most sought-after used car. Its deserved award as ‘What Car? Used Car of the Year’ will no doubt add to its reputation.
Second place in the ‘most viewed’ league table goes to the Mercedes C Class, while the Range Rover Sport is third.
“The wide cross-section of models in the top 20 views shows the broad appeal of searching for a used car on AA Cars: there are literally, cars to suit every choice and budget.
“You might expect similar types of car to the VW Golf to be in the top 20 and indeed the Ford Focus is the fourth most viewed used car while the Vauxhall Astra is at number nine.
“Popular small cars are at 13, the Ford Fiesta while the Vauxhall Corsa, much favoured by new drivers because of its low insurance rating, is at number 18.”
In all, the AA Cars league table features an amazing 725 car models out of around 120,000 on the platform.
Those at the bottom of the list received only a handful of views.
They include two Rolls-Royce models, the Camargue and the one-off Rolls-Royce 100EX – an experimental 9.0-litre V16 four-seat, two-door convertible, built in 2004 to mark the centenary of the meeting of businessman Charles Rolls and engineer Henry Royce, who went on to found the company that built the ‘best car in the world’.
Also in the bottom 5 are the Alfa Romeo 145 and 146 and BMW 850.
