The first drive-on grille and light shine service has been introduced for cars to coincide with the clocks going back next week.
Vauxhall Insignia has developed the new Insignia Shine Service, taking its inspiration from the shoe-shiners of New York City. The service is designed to draw attention to the importance of keeping headlights and back lights clean as the winter nights begin to draw in. The company says that many motorists only check their headlights are in good working order around once every four months.
Simon Ewart, spokesperson for Insignia, said: "The grille and light shine service brings a little bit of 1950s New York magic to London, but there’s a serious message behind it – the issue of safety and keeping car headlights clean during the winter period."
The motor company has urged drivers to maintain their lights on a regular basis and to take extra care during long journeys as any poor winter weather could exacerbate safety problems caused by murky or muddied lights.
According to a recent report from shropshirestar.com a motorist narrowly avoided death when his car was left hanging over a valley in mid Wales after an accident.
