Suzuki’s Swift quickly past the 1,000,000 mark

Global production of Suzuki’s Swift has passed the one million mark, it has been revealed.

The Swift was first introduced around four years ago with the aim of combining Japanese quality and European-inspired driving dynamics to the market.

That more than a million vehicles have been produced is testament to the vehicle’s popularity, especially in Europe, where 306,000 have been built at Suzuki’s plant in Hungary.

In the UK, meanwhile, 36,500 Swifts have been sold – which accounts for approximately 50 per cent of the sales mix.

The Swift is available from £8,260 and comes with either a 1.3 or 1.5-litre petrol engine or a 1.3 DDiS diesel engine.

All models feature front, side and curtain airbags, radio/CD player, remote central locking and immobiliser, electric front windows, electric and heated door mirrors, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and tinted glass.

However, only the 1.5 GLX models and the 1.3 DDiS come with air conditioning, alloy wheels, front fog lamps and keyless entry and start.
