Villeneuve ‘pretty keen’ to sign up for V8 Supercar season

It has been reported that former Formula One champ Jacques Villeneuve is "pretty keen" to sign up for a season in Australia’s V8 Supercar competition.

Super Cheap Racing team owner Paul Morris is the man who is trying to woo the Canadian driver.

Morris told the Herald Sun newspaper: "He is pretty keen to do it. It would be the full season. Not just one race. If we can make a bit of a buzz about it then I think it can definitely happen."

Villeneuve is currently contesting the Speedcar Series in the Middle East, after a move to secure a regular NASCAR drive failed to come off.

Villeneuve made his F1 debut in the 1996 season, winning four races and almost pipping Damon Hill to the title.

He became champion the following year, 1997 being the last year he won a championship race or managed a top three end-of-season finish.

A keen musician, he has released an album called Private Paradise.
