Lewis Hamilton has suffered a blow ahead of this weekend’s Valencia Grand Prix as opportunist thieves stole luggage from a car he had hired.
The F1 ace, who was enjoying a well-earned break with his Pussycat Dolls’ lead singer girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger in the Costa Del Sol, could only watch from the lobby of his five star hotel as a rucksack and leather holdall were half-inched.
The two thieves were described as looking "like drug addicts" by an onlooker who witnessed the drama.
Hamilton will be hoping that his fortunes improve when the Valencia Grand Prix gets underway.
McLaren rivals Ferrari recovered some ground at the Hungarian Grand Prix when their driver Felipe Massa looked set for his fourth race win of the year until engine failure put paid to his hopes of victory.
The British driver is confident that the title won’t be snatched from under his nose for the second season in a row and has said that consistency will be the key to him realising his title ambitions.
