Damon Hill has urged McLaren boss Ron Dennis to enjoy the ongoing battle between his drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.
Hamilton leads the reigning champion by ten points after seven races and the rivalry between the pair is heating up with every race.
Alonso recently complained that the McLaren team gave preferential treatment to the English driver, while Hamilton himself has also had reason to protest after reportedly being ordered to let his teammate overtake him to win the Monaco Grand Prix.
While the friction between the drivers has seemed to destabilise the team, former world champion Hill insisted that the competitiveness should be savoured.
"I think Ron wants a perfect ending and he wants it all to be harmonious. I can understand that," he said. "I think he thinks that trouble is created from outside and injected into the camp with an attempt to upset things.
"But some things are impossible to control and that’s one of them. The best thing to do would be to just enjoy it."
Hill described Hamilton as "incredible" but said that he will have to fight hard if he is to win the championship this year, as Alonso will not "evaporate" as he strives to retain his title.
