Retired Grand Prix driver David Coulthard thinks that if Jenson Button cannot find a team in time for the start of the new Formula One season it would be "criminal".
The new BBC pundit is clearly a big fan of Button who raced for Honda this year but could be jobless unless the team finds a backer before the Australian curtain-raiser to the new season in March.
Coulthard told The Sun: "I can understand why everyone wants to talk about Lewis and deservedly so after the two years he’s had.
"But given a similar situation with the team backing and the same car at his disposal, I’m convinced Jenson would win a hell of a lot of Grand Prixs."
Button has been linked with a move to Toro Rosso but Coulthard thinks that he might have to wait a while "on the subs’ bench" before returning to F1 action.
In other motor racing news, f1sa.com has quoted McLaren team boss Ron Dennis as saying that he definitely expects the sport to return to the USA "within the next three years".
