Peugeot unveils first member of the 8 generation

Peugeot has unveiled its new 308 model – the first vehicle from its ‘8 generation’.

The range will be powered by no fewer then ten powerplants, with both petrol end diesel variants available, ranging from 1.4 to two litres in size, offering up to 150bhp and functioning with four-, five- and six-speed gearboxes.

Peugeot’s 307 model formed the design basis for the 308, with its ‘semi-high’ architecture, large interior space and capable road holding.

Space has reportedly been maximised in the boot of the new vehicle, with 430 litres of capacity available when the parcel shelf is in place, rising to 1,398 litres when the seats are folded.

The "class-leading" aerodynamics of the car contributes to lower emissions, according to Peugeot, with the 1.6-litre model emitting only 120 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre.

Taking safety into consideration, the 308 has been fitted with seven airbags, a lane-departure warning system and bi-xenon directional headlamps.
