Nissan Micra sees sales improvement in April

Among the highlights of the latest sales figures for the Nissan brand across Europe is the successful demand for vehicles in the Nissan Micra range.

During April, the Micra registered a four per cent rise in sales compared with the same month in 2008, with 6,120 vehicles being bought by motorists.

This was one of only two models from Nissan to register a year-on-year sales increase last month, with the other being the 21 per cent progression made by the Nissan Qashqai.

In terms of location, during the month sales in the UK were up 9.3 per cent on last year, while the Nissan brand grew the most in Italy, which saw a 22.0 per cent growth for this April.

Francois Goupil de Bouille, vice president of sales for Nissan in Europe, said: "Overall we are not seeing any improvement year-on-year in the European market.

"Our sales performance is in line with expectations and some key countries such as Russia, Italy, UK and Spain have improved their market share year-on-year."

Nissan Micra vehicles can also be bought under the recently announced government scrapping scheme, enabling motorists to trade in their vehicles that are over ten years old for a £2,000 discount on a new car.
