Nissan has confirmed that the Qashqai, its new UK-designed, engineered and built crossover vehicle, is now available for test drive and ordering at dealers, with deliveries set to begin on March 1st.
According to Nissan, the vehicle combines attributes of an SUV – a high driving position and a robust build – with the driving dynamics, economy and low insurance costs of a conventional hatchback.
The Qashqai has already picked up its first accolade – the best small family car in the £13,000-£14,500 category in the WhatCar? awards.
Nissan is expecting the car to perform well; the manufacturer’s website has already received more than 150,000 hits and 5,500 leads requesting further information on the model.
The entry level Visia in the Qashqai range has Bluetooth phone integration, air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels and electric windows as standard.
A choice of 1.6 and two-litre petrol engines is available in the range, as well as 1.5 and two-litre diesel variants.
Also going on sale will be Acenta and Tekna models, incorporating features such as a panoramic glass roof, xenon headlamps, rear parking sensors and a six-CD auto-changer.
