Many motorists may be on the lookout for a used Ford Focus or a used Mini Cooper as they look to downsize their current vehicles during the current financial climate, it has been stated.
Which? Car has argued that many motorists are now on the lookout for smaller vehicles, which offer improvements in terms of fuel efficiency and environmental impact.
Thus, many motorists are considering shopping in their 4×4 vehicles for a cheaper car that has the capabilities of completing the school run.
Richard Headland, editor of Which? Car, said: "Times are hard, so it’s no surprise that people are downsizing to save money.
"It pays to think carefully about alternatives to the mainstream choices and if you go for a more fuel efficient car you can cut costs for years to come."
Motorists looking for a small car that is comfortable on long journeys may wish to consider a Mini Cooper, according to a review of the vehicle by Top Gear.
The review added that it "makes sense" to opt for the Mini Cooper in diesel form.
