Mercedes has claimed that its SLR McLaren Roadster was "the star of the show" at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend, as thousands of people gathered to catch a world exclusive first glimpse of the car.
The vehicle took Goodwood’s famous hill climb circuit six times and attracted massive crowds, despite the occasional shower of rain.
It is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 207mph.
Such performance is made possible by a hand-made 5.5-litre supercharged V8 engine, delivering 626bhp.
Other Mercedes exhibits at the festival included a display celebrating 40 years of AMG, the automaker’s tuning arm, which included the new S 63 AMG and the SLK 55 AMG Black Series.
The SLR McLaren Roadster will go on sale in September this year and Mercedes claims that it will become "the world’s most exciting open car".
