Mazda sets sales record with Mazda2

Car manufacturer Mazda produced its best monthly sales figures over the course of September.

Indeed, some 1,319 Mazda2s were sold by the company, 60 per cent of which being the new model, which Mazda has called "the right car at the right time".

According to sales director Jeremy Thomson, the vehicle’s success has come about because it meets consumer need for a small car with environmentally-sound features.

He said: "The lightweight strategy with its benefits of improved CO2 emissions and better fuel consumption arrived at a time when other cars in the sector are getting larger and heavier."

Earlier this week, Mazda announced that it would be unveiling its all-new Mazda6, also known as the Atenza, at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show.
