Maserati GranTurismo premieres in London

London’s Royal Horticultural Halls hosted the UK premiere of Maserati’s GranTurismo this week, in what the manufacturer describes as a "breathtaking spectacle".

The car was unveiled by supermodel and motorsport fan Jodie Kidd, who signalled for a silk sheet that was covering the vehicle to be lifted as the hall lights dimmed.

Andrea Antonnicola, managing director of Maserati GB, then presented the GranTurismo and said he was "extremely proud" to be introducing the car to the British market.

He added: "The GranTurismo continues a tradition of great Maserati grand touring cars, which stretches back to 1946.

"However, the new GranTurismo is as much of a synthesis of avant-garde design and technical innovation as it is a product of this rich heritage. And above all it’s a car that confirms the strength of the Maserati brand in 2007."

The model was launched at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and since then has been "enthusiastically received" around the world. It was accompanied at its British premiere by an Executive GT version of the Quattroporte Automatic and a 1953 Maserati A6GCS, one of only four in the world.
