Motor manufacturer Hyundai unveiled its Concept Genesis Coupe in Los Angeles this week.
According to the company, the vision behind the model was to deliver a performance car with an imaginative design that would appeal to automotive enthusiasts.
Indeed, the look of the Genesis is familiar to that of Le Mans racing machines.
Hyundai added that the vehicle represents the arrivals of a new rear-wheel drive sports coupe which will hit dealerships in the US in 2009.
Chief designer at the company’s California design centre Joel Piaskowski commented that the model meets expectations.
"The mission for Concept Genesis Coupe was to create a pure performance car with a design that would capture the imagination of hardcore automotive enthusiasts," he said.
Le Mans is an endurance sports race held in the town of the same name in Sarthe, France, since 1923.
The event lasts for 24 hours and takes place on closed public roads.
