It’s fair to say that the features we find in today’s range of vehicles have advanced hugely since the days where a cassette player was the height of sophistication. Nowadays it’s rare to find a new vehicle without technologies such as automatic lights, in-built satnav and digital radios.
What’s more, the high-end car markets have developed some of the most glamorous and sought-after in-car luxuries. Everything from TV screens to temperature-controlled seats can be found. To give you a clearer idea, AA Cars have put together a few of our favourites and where you can find them. These might even be the persuasion you need to buy one of these models.
Nothing oozes class more than features that seem to work without any manual intervention. Sound systems manufacturer Bang & Olufsen teamed up with Audi and Aston Martin to create speakers that automatically rise up in a smooth and elegant fashion, to provide professional sound quality while you drive.
You can find some vehicles that have headliners which glimmer like the stars in the sky. These are created by installing fibre optic strands at different depths and angles. The brightness can be adjusted to create the perfect atmosphere for passengers to sit back and stare into a beautiful, twinkling night sky effect.

Many vehicles now come with TVs in the back of the front seats to provide entertainment for youngsters on long journeys. The cream of the crop is Bentley’s infotainment package, which includes a pair of iPads, in-headset screens, keyboards and a 12-inch drop-down screen.

Heated and cooled seats
Heated seats and steering wheels are becoming more common in today’s cars. Cooled seats, however, are more of a rarity and can be found in some exquisite motors. Fans inside the backrest and cushion cool the seat down – ideal for making leather seats more comfortable on a hot and sticky day.

Putting the gender-biased name to one side, BMW’s ‘Gentleman function’ simply allows the driver to adjust the passenger seat without having to get up. This is done from the driver’s side controls and can be used to ease entry, exit or create more rear legroom.

Lambswool floor mats
You’d be hard-pressed to find a material that feels as lovely and soft as lambswool, so imagine having this in your floor mats. These certainly add an extra element of extravagance to any vehicle and, while they can be bought separately, they also come with many high-end cars. You’ll just have to resist the temptation to drive barefoot.
