Japanese automaker Honda has announced that its Swindon manufacturing plant has produced its one-millionth Civic.
According to David Hodgetts, Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) director, everyone involved is reflecting on the milestone with pride.
He said: "We are the only Honda plant in the world manufacturing the Civic 5-door and 3-door models and are extremely proud of the fact there are one million happy customers driving Swindon-built Civics."
Production of the model began in September 1994, with the plant churning out 6,652 in its first year.
However, it has since gone from strength to strength and now is responsible for an annual amount of 138,792 cars.
It added that the two-millionth vehicle to be put together at the plant will come off the conveyor belt at some point in 2008.
The company may very well be celebrating this milestone alongside the firm’s 60th birthday in September next year.
