Entering into a charity raffle proved highly successful for one woman recently, as she scooped the top prize of a new Ford Fiesta.
The Barking and Dagenham Post has revealed that Brenda Benbrook won the car in a raffle organised by St Francis Hospice in Havering-atte-Bower.
Allen Ford of Brentwood, Essex, donated the car, thought to be worth around £6,000, for the fundraising event, which in all helped provide the charity with an extra £59,000 to put towards its care work.
Ms Benbrook told the newspaper: "I’m absolutely delighted to hear that I won the car. I certainly never expected to."
She added that she only bought the ticket from a neighbour in support of the hospice as she is aware of its importance in the local community.
Top Gear made an interesting observation about the Ford Fiesta when it stated that the vehicle was "the sort of car people buy for their daughter but then steal back when she’s out".
The TV show added that the three-door version of the Fiesta "looks genuinely brilliant".
