Renting a sports car for a motor enthusiast this Christmas may prove to be the "ultimate" in gifts, it has been claimed.
According to Guy Salmon Prestige Rental, the gesture would be much more appreciated than traditional presents such as socks or toiletries.
However, drivers should remember not to get too excited when behind the wheel, as staying safe and within the law could prevent having to make some drastic new year’s resolutions.
"A driving experience in a swanky new sports car will impress implicitly and not only is it an original idea, it will provide hours of fun for the recipient," commented marketing director for the firm Dawn Clayton.
Meanwhile, the Irish Road Safety Authority’s campaign against drinking and driving over the festive period will be unveiled today.
The Irish Times comments that the country’s minister for transport Noel Dempsey will launch the programme.
