People driving on UK roads this winter need to make sure they do all they can to avoid a breakdown or accident, it has been claimed.
According to Mondial Assistance, the period from December 27th to January 2nd are expected to be busy times for roadside repair firms.
The firm commented that "freak storms" and accidents were also common during the season and that motorists should make sure their vehicles are up-to-scratch.
"Even if you aren’t using your car over the Christmas break, try and start it a few times and take it for a short drive," said Mondial Assistance automotive director Simon Cook.
Last week, the Department for Transport launched its annual drink-driving campaign for the festive period.
As part of the initiative, the group will be targeting male motorists between the ages of 17 and 29 – thought to be the most dangerous demographic on the road.
