Ford cleans up in Auto Express awards

Ford has secured a number of accolades in the Auto Express used-car awards for 2007, with its Focus MkII named the used-car of the year.

This model was also named the best compact family car, while the best family car award was presented to the Ford Mondeo.

The awards did not stop here for the automaker, as the Focus ST was commended in the ‘hot hatch’ category, which was won by the Volkswagen Golf GTI, while in the supermini section the Ford Fiesta was acknowledged.

Honda’s popular Jazz was the overall winner in the competitive supermini segment, while the Mini was also recognised for its quality.

Audi was successful in the business market, receiving commendations for the A4 in the compact executive segment, the A6 in the executive section and the A8 in the large executive category.

BMW’s 3- and 5-Series models were the recipients of the compact and executive awards, however, while the large executive accolade went to the Jaguar XJ.

Other winners included the Fiat Panda for the best small car, the Honda Accord Tourer for the best estate, the Mazda MX-5 SII in the roadster category and the Nissan 350Z, which was named best coupe.
