Motorists looking for a car that is proving popular with others should look no further than a used Ford Fiesta, according to the latest sales figures.
During January, the Ford Fiesta topped the UK sales charts for the third month in a row, while also being crowned the What Car? Car of the Year for 2009.
Sales of the Ford Fiesta increased by 28.3 per cent last month, despite the current troubled market conditions, helping Ford to sell almost one in every five vehicles during January.
The latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders also show that as well as the Fiesta, the Ford Ka and Ford Focus were sales leaders in their market segments.
Nigel Sharp, Ford of Britain managing director, said: "Our aim of prioritising retail growth is paying off, buoyed by the new Ford small car range."
He added that a used Ford Fiesta would offer a motorist "style, value and economy".
BBC television programme Top Gear believes that the Ford Fiesta is "the sort of car people buy for their daughter but then steal back when she’s out".
