The Ford Fiesta has claimed top prize at the recent What Diesel magazine Awards by winning the overall ‘Car of the Year’ accolade.
Readers, alongside judges from the magazine, had the enviable task of naming the winner, with the diesel Fiesta beating off the challenge of the Jaguar XF to take the prize.
The Fiesta also reigned supreme in the ‘Best small car’ category, due to the number of positives that it offers drivers.
Ian Robertson, editor of What Diesel magazine, said: "This year has been particularly tough with an unprecedented number of new car launches."
He added that the Fiesta is "a car that is perfect for these recessionary times, offering a top-class package, with a fantastic driving experience, at a reasonable price".
According to Ford, the design of the new Fiesta has been heavily influenced by the design icons of today, right through "from the sculpted, dynamic exterior to its sophisticated interior".
Meanwhile, Ford added that among the features that are fitted as standard on the vehicle are a chrome handbrake release knob and a rear spoiler.
