It is one of the most recognisable brand names in the motor industry, but Ford’s Fiesta could have reached the end of the road.
The famous Fiesta marque has been around for three decades but, according to a BusinessCar report, could have run out of mileage.
It is believed that executives at Ford are still at loggerheads about what to do with the Fiesta name.
"The Fiesta name is up for grabs and a decision cannot be that far away in terms of product planning and marketing," a Ford source confessed to BusinessCar magazine.
"There is a strong tide running in favour of changing the name because the new car is radically different and funky compared to the existing model."
The Fiesta has proved remarkably successful for Ford, consistently selling well and was second only to the Focus in its fleet offering last year.
Its popularity has been helped by the fact that, last month, Ford was voted as Britain’s most trusted car brand for the seventh year in a row by Reader’s Digest.
