Long and low, Citroen’s have unveiled images of their Numero 9 concept car which will launch the company’s ‘DS’ brand in China at The Beijing Motor Show on April 23rd.
Citroen’s DS line will contain a family-sized saloon, an SUV and an executive saloon – pictured. The Numéro 9 design has a plug-in hybrid consisting of either a petrol or diesel engine combined with an electric motor on the rear axle developing 70bhp and 150lb ft of torque.
The lithium-ion batteries can be recharged in 3½ hours from a domestic socket, while feeding power to the rear wheels enables four-wheel drive. The Beijing motor show car is fitted with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 222bhp and 203lb ft of torque.
Citroën claims a range of 50km (31 miles) on battery alone, with overall CO2 emissions of only 39g/km. With almost 300bhp on tap from the petrol and electric motors, 0-62mph acceleration takes 5.4sec.
