Famed for its reliability, practicality and brilliant performance, the Fiesta is a fantastic ’Supermini’. Not only does it have the prestigious backing of the Ford brand, but statistically it is also the UK’s most popular vehicle in terms of numbers sold. It is for these reasons, as well as a wealth of other impressive aspects, that the seventh-generation 2014 model is this week’s ‘Car of the Week’.

image003Boasting a number of engine variants, with the Fiesta there will be something for you. You can find petrol engines ranging from 1.0 to 1.6 litres that can offer fantastic, frugal fuel efficiency. The three-cylinder, 1.0 EcoBoost model is particularly economical, yet at the same time it is surprisingly nippy. The 1.5 and 1.6 diesel range equally offer exceptional economy from their dynamic and durable engines, with claimed MPGs ranging from 67.2 to 78.5.

One of the biggest draws of the Fiesta is its ‘big car’ refinement, offering a comfortable ride for passengers. The resilient suspension offers a smooth driving experience on bumpy and uneven road surfaces, whilst the innovative technology Ford put into their power-steering and suspension means that the Fiesta features superb handling, making light work of sharp bends with little roll. And it’s fun to drive!

image005Whether you decide to opt for a 3-door or 5-door option, you’ll be rewarded with a surprisingly spacious interior and generous boot space for a small car. This makes it a great option for families with younger children, who can be comfortably seated in the rear of the vehicle. The furnishing of the Fiesta’s cabin is smartly finished and the upholstery is fully cushioned, accommodating and hardwearing.

image007In terms of the in-car conveniences and technology available, what you get depends on which model you select. Many feature climate control, electronic mirrors and windows and central locking. Although in some Fiestas, you can find more impressive features like DAB Radio, Bluetooth, voice-recognition technology and alloy wheels. Fiestas also bristle with safety features and the current range achieves the maximum five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test.

image009It’s not just families who can enjoy this vehicle either. If you combine all of the above with the Fiesta’s sleek, stylish and aesthetically pleasing design, as well as its easy manoeuvrability; it is a great choice for any young professional or city driver.  Also, Fiesta features Ford’s no-cost ‘My Key’ option which allows parents to impose certain safety controls for young drivers – such as limiting maximum speed.

Finally, as you’d expect with the smaller petrol engines, the subsequently lower emissions will see you paying less road tax. Better yet, some of the 1.0 Litre EcoBoost range is in the A grade category for road tax, meaning you pay nothing at all.

This particular 5-door model we are featuring comes complete with a variety of added conveniences and gadgets, giving you much more for your money. Also the 1.0 Litre EcoBoost petrol engine it has makes it an incredibly economical choice and what’s more it has only 4,946 miles on the clock. To see the full listing, click here.
