Essentially creating the market for mid-range MPVs when it was first introduced in 1996, the Renault Scenic has seen considerable success over its lifetime due to its versatility as a spacious and practical family car. Although recent generations have seen two seats added to the back to create the Grand Scenic, the original car is exemplary for its clever maximisation of space, allowing for both a sizeable five-person cabin and big boot. Added to this is a surprisingly pleasant drive which focuses on comfort and refinement rather than sportiness, especially in the diesels, such as the 2.0 DCi, which remains unflappable even on the motorway.
