When it was first released at the beginning of the millennium, the X-Type was Jaguar's first attempt to produce a car which could compete in the mainstream, while still offer its trademark luxury and refinement. Powerful and sophisticated, the X-Type - although now discontinued and outshone by their younger brother the XF - remains a leader in the compact exec class; if now appealing as a classic choice, rather than a modern one. X-Types are on the thirsty side, especially the bigger engines such as the hefty 2.2 litre diesel, which might give them less appeal than some of their more modern rivals, but few can compete with the desirability and class of the X-Type Jag. ...
