British Grand Prix’s Silverstone circuit is expanding with a six million square foot redevelopment.

Approval has been gained for a new pit and paddock complex along with a manufacturer test centre, business park, extreme sport and leisure facility, two hotels, and an integral university campus.

Richard Phillips, managing director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, said: "For the first time in its long and illustrious history, the development of Silverstone is now being considered with an holistic approach.

"It is a methodology that will protect and secure Silverstone’s status as a global leader and the home of motor racing."

Silverstone has recently won the service to industry award at the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) awards ceremony in recognition of work which Silverstone has done with the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) towards the masterplan.
