2008 Swedish stage of the World Rally Championship

Posted in Racing news news on February 13th, 2008

The Swedish leg (round 2) of the production car World Rally Championships (WRC) commences today.

Leading after the first round, Citroen, with their Citroen C4 WRC, driven by Sébastien Loeb and co-driver, Daniel Elena, are celebrating their 100th WRC start.

One of the most successful pairings of the WRC circuit, they have 37 wins from their 99 starts. They also hold the records for most wins in one season (ten in 2005) and the longest run of consecutive wins (six in 2005).

"Sure, it would be nice to celebrate our 100th start with a win," Loeb observed. "But scoring points in both championships will also be important, and I will base my pace on the way the rally unfolds."

The Citroen Total World Rally team also set a brand new record two weeks ago, when they clinched their fifth Rallye Monte Carlo victory.
