Porsche lifts the lid on new 911
Porsche has unveiled its latest 911 Turbo Cabriolet, saying that the car’s convertible trim continues a 20-year tradition of offering a soft-top version of its flagship sports car.
According to the automaker, the new 911 Turbo offers sporty performance, "open-roofed" driving pleasure and economical fuel consumption compared to its competitors.
One of the reasons given for the car’s potential is its engine technology, which is represented in the shape of a 3.6-litre, six-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine with twin turbochargers, delivering 480bhp.
From a standstill, the car can reach 62mph in four seconds before hitting a top speed of 193mph.
The new 911’s chassis has been tuned to "convertible-specific" needs and utilises an active suspension management system, while stability and traction management facilities also contribute to the car’s performance.
Aerodynamics are another crucial part of the vehicle’s potential, with a rear spoiler that extends automatically at speeds of 75mph, while safety has also been prioritised with six airbags in the cabin, a rollover protection system and high-performance brake systems.
Coming as standard in the new 911 Turbo are bi-xenon headlights, 19-inch forged wheels, air conditioning, satellite navigation, a Bose sound system and a leather interior.
