The Jeep Cherokee has received a 2008 makeover.

A new suspension and steering system promise to make the Cherokee even more refined on the road, while inside the car, there is a distinctly upmarket feel courtesy of a leather interior and heated front memory seats.

Climate control, electric windows and cruise control will now be standard features.

New Cherokee drivers will benefit from the optional Sky Slider full-open canvas roof which is two and a half times the size of a regular sunroof.

Selec-Trac II is now to be found in the car – it’s an active on-demand system that helps anticipate and prevent wheel slip before it occurs: ideal for road driving and towing.

Even more downhill control in low-traction conditions will be possible with a new automatic gearbox.

Nigel Land, marketing director of Chrysler UK Ltd, said: "Even with tough economic conditions, if you are buying a car then value, price, practicality and great looks are still as important as ever. This is a thoroughly modern family car and the value for money this Jeep offers cannot be ignored."

Prices will start from £24,595.
