One of the Continental manufacturer’s tyres has garnered a top award at consumer group Which?’s supermini and car tyre test this week.

The Continental ContiEcoContact 3 was given a four-star rating in the category for its all-round performance.

Beating off competition from 13 other tyres, the ContiEcoContact 3 performs solidly in wet and dry braking, handling as well wet grip on straight and bendy roads and in wer tests.

Scoring 68 per cent from the judges, the tyre is also believed to be widely available compared to some of the other brands.

The ContiEcoContact 3 also possesses fuel-efficient properties, with its flexible silica compound allegedly being able to increase fuel efficiency in a car by five per cent.

This translates to a £45 saving at the petrol pump each year, saving 56 litres of fuel on average.

Which? magazine’s testers said: "The ContiEcoContact3 is the best in this size. It has four-star ratings in every category apart from noise, and even here it doesn’t disgrace. It’s widely available so shop around for the best price."
