Pick-up drivers will soon be offered a vehicle offering more power and style than its predecessors in the form of the Ford Ranger Wildtrak, the American manufacturer has claimed.

Among the features of the truck, which will be on show at the Commercial Vehicle Show this year, are "spicy" orange chilli and passion red colour options, extra equipment and a new engine.

The latest version of the Ranger Wildtrak has rear box rail extensions, an aerodynamic sports bar, lower sports cladding and tail lamp protectors to enhance its aesthetic appeal.

New alloy wheels further enhance the pick-up’s character, along with a sports front grille, side steps, roof rails and a rear protection bar.

Powering the vehicle is an all-new three-litre TDCi engine, with a five-speed manual transmission designed to offer good fuel economy along with strong performance.

Inside the Ranger Wildtrak’s cabin are heated seats in leather and perforated alcantara, floor mats with a Wildtrak logo, a sports steering wheel and a dash-mounted ‘information centre’.

Introducing the model, which will be on sale from August this year, Steve Kimber, commercial vehicles director for Ford Britain, said: "The latest Ford Ranger is selling faster than the previous model.

"The new Wildtrak will take us deeper into the fiercely competitive pick-up market with a truck that really makes a statement."
