Ford has been voted the most trusted car brand in Britain – the seventh consecutive time it has received the accolade.

The 2007 Reader’s Digest survey covered 15 countries and 38 product categories, assessing factors such as value for money, image, quality, environmental responsibility and ethical standards.

According to Ford, the poll is one of the biggest and most wide-ranging surveys of its kind, with responses drawn from 4.5 million homes.

The manufacturer is currently going through a positive period, with its Focus model recently being voted the used car of the year 2007 in the annual Auto Express awards.

Car guide publisher EurotaxGlass’s, which was involved in the judging process for the awards, said that the Focus was recognised for its handling, reliability, dealer support and value for money.

"The second-generation Ford Focus has proved extremely popular as a new and used buy since its launch in 2004 and continues to be among the most enjoyable cars to drive in its class," said Jeff Patterson, senior editor at EurotaxGlass’s.

Mr Patterson noted that there is a good supply of used Focuses on the market, owing to the model’s success in new car sales charts. He said that buyers "rarely have to travel far to find a Ford dealer for cost-competitive servicing and maintenance".
