Three and five-door all-new Fiestas will begin rolling off production lines in Europe in summer 2008, with region-specific models on sale in Asia, South Africa, Australia and the Americas by 2010.

The European model will wear the distinctive, bold Ford ‘face’ including the signature lower grille and the centered Ford oval badge that is the trademark of both the Verve Concept and other modern Ford vehicles.

Its specially-tuned electric power assist steering will offer low-speed steering ease with more direct driver feedback at higher speeds.

The all-new ultra-low CO2 Fiesta ECOnetic engine will be a standard feature of the vehicle and boast target emissions of just 99 g/km.

It will also be approximately 40 kg lighter than the previous Fiesta, contributing to improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

Executive director of design Martin Smith commented: "This is the most complete, expressive and exciting Fiesta Ford has ever produced, inside and out.

"To me, it is a car that evokes an instant emotional response – ‘I want one’ – before you even get near it."
