Vauxhall Zafira combines performance and space

Motorists looking for a car that will provide them with high levels of performance to go alongside the capabilities of carrying a heavy load may wish to decide on a Vauxhall Zafira, according to one reviewer.

Writing for the Ayrshire Post, Enda Mullen has remarked that motorists could choose the 1.9-litre diesel Zafira, which offers enough performance to "satisfy most".

Mr Mullen also established from his test drive of the Vauxhall Zafira SRi 1.9 that many improvements have been made over its predecessor.

Although, the older vehicle offered drivers high levels of space, the reviewer highlights that the latest Zafira is even more spacious, while extra storage solutions have been included, such as overhead roof lockers.

Meanwhile, as well as the extra space on offer, passengers can also witness a more modern feel to the interior, while overall the current Zafira is "a little more sleek and svelte".

In terms of its on the road performance, The 1.9-litre Vauxhall Zafira can reach a maximum speed of 127 miles per hour, while being capable of completing 47.1 miles per gallon of fuel, according to Mr Mullen.

High levels of safety have also been confirmed within the vehicle range as a five-star safety rating has been gained by Euro NCAP.

Vauxhall Zafira driver names new daughter after helpful police officer

A Vauxhall Zafira driver has opted to name her newly born daughter after a local female PC after her involvement in the birth, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

PC Jess Lane broke away from football crowd duty at the recent game between Leeds United and MK Dons to help deliver the baby after parents Lyndsey Haynes and David Miller were caught in traffic.

The parents have now chosen to call their daughter Catherine Louise, the middle names of the heroic cop.

Mr Miller told the publication: "We stopped at the traffic lights under a bridge and I could see the baby’s head.

"I saw a car with four police in which had stopped at the lights and I ran and tapped on the window and shouted ‘my girlfriend’s having a baby’ and they all jumped out."

A paramedic reached the scene by bicycle to cut the umbilical cord before an ambulance arrived to take the newborn to hospital.

According to Vauxhall, the Zafira is a seven-seater vehicle that combines "sharp style" with a "dynamic driving experience".

Vauxhall Zafira is an eco-friendly MPV

Motorists looking for an environmentally-friendly seven-seater vehicle may wish to look into the Vauxhall Zafira, as the MPV is to use a new diesel engine.

The latest addition to the Zafira line-up is a 1.7-litre diesel engine, which generates combined emissions of 139g/km, making it one of the greenest vehicles in the MPV market.

Furthermore, the vehicle has the suitable credentials to become the first ecoFLEX model, offering motorists financial savings as well as eco-friendliness.

The Zafira’s low emissions put it in the Band C bracket in terms of Vehicle Excise Duty, while offering a solid fuel consumption of 53.3 miles to the gallon.

This means that a motorist should be able to travel 680 miles on a full tank before needing to pay a visit to a petrol station.

Other features of the vehicle are that it can be bought with any one of five trim levels, while passenger safety is boosted through the inclusion of six full-size airbags and an anti-locking braking system.

A review of the Vauxhall Zafira by What Car? highlighted that every engine in the range is good and the vehicle is "fun to drive".

Elite trim introduced to Zafira range

The Vauxhall Zafira is an MPV "for families who enjoy the finer things in life", according to the manufacturer, and the range has now been enhanced with an Elite trim.

This new offering will further strengthen the Zafira’s position as the leader in its segment and also offer value for money to customers, Vauxhall claims.

Among the features that the Zafira Elite will offer is Vauxhall’s Flex7 seating arrangement and a full leather interior trim.

Technological aspects including electronic climate control, a CD player with mp3 compatibility, a multifunction trip computer, rain-sensitive windscreen wipers and automatic lighting control will also be on offer.

A two-litre turbo petrol engine will be among the units powering the range, along with a 1.8-litre powerplant which will be available with Vauxhall’s clutchless Easytronic gearbox.

The manufacturer also announced a reduction in the price of its entry-level Zafira Expression, making it the cheapest seven-seat monocab on the MPV market.
