The Top Gear presenter adds: "It has the kind of competence and confidence you see in top-level sportsmen and women or helicopter pilots."
Ford has also released a new hatchback this month. The new Focus RS has been described by the Sun newspaper as a vehicle which "oozes with attitude".
However, the hatchback will not be released in the US as it hasn’t been "homologated" for that market, which bosses at Ford said would be too expensive, Autocar reports.

Although the new Volkswagen Golf Estate is not expected to appear on UK roads until next year, motorists looking to sample the vehicle prior to then are to be able to do so across Europe.
The sixth generation Golf is set to hit European markets from September and features many of the same changes that motorists can look forward to witnessing in the UK.
Changes have been made to the vehicle’s appearance with a new bold headlight styling being one of the noticeable developments.
Meanwhile, there is a dedication towards ensuring that the vehicle’s occupants remain as safe as possible through the inclusion of ABS brakes, six airbags and whiplash-optimised head restraints.
Furthermore, motorists will have the choice of four petrol engines or one of two diesel units, with a BlueMotion version on offer for those concerned about their carbon footprint.

A Volkswagen Golf driver was left without her car for almost three months and owing £2,240 in fines following some antics from Lambeth Council.
Ruth Ducker regularly parks her vehicle around the corner from her home in Camberwell, but was surprised one day to find the car gone, with double yellow lines in its place.
She knew it would not have been stolen as there was no battery in it, something she was about to replace.
It was eventually discovered that the car was lifted from the road by contractors so the lines could be painted and then replaced.
Later that day, some parking enforcers had the car towed away as it was deemed to be ‘illegally’ parked.
However, it needed the intervention of local MP Kate Hoey to get the car back and the finds waived, almost three months after the incident took place.
Mrs Ducker said: "What they did was disgraceful. I’m very grateful to my MP.
"I knew that to pay up would be an admission of guilt, so I decided to fight them. They offered a paltry £100 to compensate for lost road tax, insurance and inconvenience. Needless to say I still haven’t received a penny."
According to Volkswagen, the latest Golf is "refined throughout", while also being the most luxurious, safest and quietest ever built.
The production of vehicles including the Honda Civic is to resume at a plant in Swindon following a temporary closure, it has been revealed.
After being shut down for four months, the Honda plant is to resume production at half capacity following the positive moves to reduce stock levels at the venue.
New machinery has also been added to the plant to ensure that production is faster and more efficient, with work expected to begin on the upcoming Honda Jazz in the autumn.
Some 1,300 members of staff have taken voluntary redundancy from the plant, leaving a total workforce of about 3,400.
Meanwhile, pay cuts have been agreed upon by the remaining workforce for the next ten months.
David Hodgetts, director of manufacturing at Honda UK, said: "We’ll only be working about 50 per cent of our full capacity.
"We have tried our best to protect jobs. There’s been no compulsory redundancies at all at Honda and that’s the biggest objective we had throughout this period."
The Honda Civic is available to motorists in both three and five door forms in colours including Deep Sapphire Blue and Alabaster Silver.
Younger drivers are the target audience for the new Volkswagen Polo and there are many elements of the vehicle to please them, according to a review of the car.
Writing for the Ayrshire Post, Stewart Smith indicates that the car is strong in terms of the space it offers, the quality of the interior and the money it could save motorists through its fuel efficiency.
However, Mr Smith remarks that the main selling point of the vehicle is its styling, with some small design touches helping to improve its look.
At the front, a new full-width lower grille has been fitted, while the back end is described as being a lot more sportier than previous models.
Meanwhile, the car has been extended, meaning that drivers and passengers benefit from extra leg and shoulder room.
And the additional space continues in the boot, with luggage room of 280 litres now on offer with the seats raised and 952 litres when they are dropped.
According to Volkswagen, the Polo provides a motorist with "a lot of car for a small price tag".
A selection of safety technologies have been added to the upcoming Volkswagen Golf Estate to ensure that motorists buying the vehicle are given the greatest chance of remaining in one piece should they become involved in an accident.
Among the safety additions to the estate are driver and front passenger whiplash-optimised head restraints, six airbags and ABS brakes.
Meanwhile, drivers will also be able to profit from vast amounts of comfort, alongside the choice of a number of revised engines.
These include a 1.4-litre petrol offering, a 1.6-litre TDI common rail unit or a BlueMotion version with an added focus towards supporting the environment through both reduced CO2 emissions and greater fuel efficiency.
Furthermore, the upcoming Golf Estate, which will begin arriving in 2010 after orders begin in October this year, gains a fresher look through redesigned headlamps and changes to the front and rear bumpers.
According to Volkswagen, "excitement is now a practical choice" for motorists through the Golf Estate, while the car also offers 1,550 litres of luggage space when the rear seats are dropped.
Motorists prepared to delay the purchasing of a new car until the end of the year could profit from owning a Volkswagen Golf Estate.
Fans of the new Golf Hatchback may be interested in the vehicle as it follows much of the same recipe, while offering more space in the boot.
According to Cars UK, "it will be a good car, and it will sell to the ultra-conservative buyer looking for VW reliability and Golf longings who needs more space".
The vehicle will be given the same "smart looking front end" as the hatch, including a new nose, however, there will be some features that will be available for the first time on a Golf Estate, including Park Assist technology and a reversing camera.
Deliveries of the vehicle are expected to begin in the UK in 2010.
According to Volkswagen, the Golf Estate offers motorists 1,550 litres capacity, while also being a practical choice because of the drive and handling it provides.

Individuals working in the health sector are expected to be among the keenest buyers of the latest Volkswagen Polo, it has been revealed.
Speaking to Fleet News, Vincent Kinner, Volkswagen UK head of fleet services, said that some of the developments made to the vehicle could appeal to nurses, doctors and health workers.
He said: "These are the people who still have money to spend and we are convinced they will appreciate the combination of style and quality on offer in this car.
"We also believe the Polo is on course to increase our success rate with councils and local authorities."
Among the changes made to the Polo are new looks alongside better specification levels, while the car is also expected to retain strong residual values.
Mr Kinner added that he expects the Polo to sell 12,000 units this year in a smaller market compared to that which saw 14,000 vehicles sold in 2008.
Volkswagen has stated that the Polo offers enough leg room to comfortably seat four adults.
After being on the market for 34 years, the Volkswagen Polo has taken even greater strides with its new model, it has been stated.
Writing for the Sun, Phil Lanning suggests that the Polo Mk V is the "best ever", as it has taken on some of the characteristic looks of the Volkswagen Golf, while becoming more economical in the process.
Speaking of the appearance changes compared to the older Polo, Mr Lanning indicates that the car has gained a "strong-looking, almost square, wedgy nose and the sleek headlight arrangement from the Golf".
However, he adds that this is joined by "crisp lines, sporty deep front mesh grille and chunky wheel arches and rear lights".
Furthermore, on the inside buyers can profit from larger amounts of space, with 280 litres of room available with the seats up and 952 litres when they are dropped.
Overall, Mr Lanning refers to the vehicle as a "mini Volkswagen Golf", although he believes that this is still a "huge compliment".
