New entry-level model for Volkswagen’s Eos convertible range

Volkswagen has added a new entry-level model to its Eos convertible coupe range.

The S trim will replace the current entry level Eos, which will have its specifications changed and be rebranded as an SE model.

In order to differentiate the two models, Volkswagen has made the new entry-level Eos cheaper by £585 – making it £19,440 on the road for the S1.4-litre TSI version with 122 PS and six-speed manual gearbox.

The new cars are also issued with ‘Climatic’ semi-automatic air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, remote control central locking with alarm and a five-section electric roof system as a matter of course.

Meanwhile, the most basic SE will cost £20,530 and come with a multifunction computer, rear parking sensors and 17-ince alloy wheels.

The other two models in the range – Sport and Individual – will also be modified, with Sport being boosted by the addition of 18-inch alloy wheels and a luxury pack, which includes a rain and dusk sensor and door mirrors which can be folded electronically.

This luxury pack will also fitted to cars in the Individual range.

Shares in Volkswagen have fallen recently following news that Porsche is willing to sell up to five per cent of its share options in the company.

Volkswagen Eos gets Individual trim

A new Individual trim specification has been added to Volkswagen’s Eos line to celebrate the coupe’s first anniversary in the UK.

This trim level is range-topping and, according to Volkswagen, "lends extra style to the Eos’ already head-turning looks".

The car’s suspension has been lowered and stiffened, giving it a more "purposeful" stance and better responses, while a set of 18-inch alloy wheels and bespoke leather upholstery add to its stylistic appeal.

As on the standard model, an advanced, five-piece glass and metal folding roof comes with the new Eos variant, which moves from its standard position to stow in the boot in 25 seconds.

A choice of engines is on offer with the Eos Individual, including a two-litre diesel unit and a 3.2-litre V6 petrol powerplant.

Coming as standard with the new Volkswagen model is an advanced electronic climate control system, heated front seats, six airbags, ABS brakes and an electronic stabilisation programme.
