Seat offers stunning new car colours

Spanish car manufacturer Seat has got busy with the paintbrushes to offer drivers a greater choice of new colours on selected models.

The array of new shades – entitled Custom Palette colours and carrying £550 RRP price tags – are sure to turn heads on Britain’s monochrome high streets and motorways.

For starters there is the new option of Lumina Orange on Leon models, which is also available on FR and all Cupra models.

Leon buyers can also go for the stunning special edition Cupra K1- an extra-special Cupra with bespoke styling additions front and rear – in the all-new Speed Blue hue.

Finally, what about Kiwi Green and Furia Grey?

Seat product marketing manager, Andy Medcraft, said: "The increase in the number of Seat buyers opting for the recent Candy White colour has been nothing short of phenomenal.

"Now, with the introduction of our eye-catching new Custom Palette colours on Leon FR, Cupra and Cupra K1, I’m certain we’ll see the trend towards stunning paint jobs continue."

Brands Hatch braced for Seat’s two diesel-engined Leons

The 50th anniversary HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at
Brands Hatch on March 30th will be a first – as Seat race two
diesel-engined Leons.

Since joining the BTCC in 2004, Seat Sport UK has contested 120 races,
winning 33, recording 83 podiums and scoring 2,245 manufacturers’
points.

Driver Jason Plato said: "The early signs show that the
Leon TDI has huge potential, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of
finding out what makes it tick.

"The turbocharged TDI has plenty of torque and there is a lot more
weight over the front axle, so set-up is different and I’ve had to
change my driving style."

Driver Darren Turner commented: "You really have to change your
driving technique – for instance, you have to be very smooth and drive
it just under the limit, because if you hit the power too hard the turbo
and torque makes it understeer and you have to back off; and once you’ve
eased off and come back on the throttle you’ve lost all momentum."

For those who can not get to Brands Hatch in person, full coverage of
the BTCC racing can be viewed on digital TV channel ITV4, and then
shortened highlights will be on the "men and motors" channel.

Copper-bottomed reason to examine the Leon Cupra

Seat has developed a styling kit to add a sporty look to the Leon Cupra 2008 edition fitted with the K1 bespoke badge

The extensively re-worked front and rear bumpers, smart side skirts, a more pronounced tailgate spoiler and unique chrome-tipped, centrally-mounted, oval exhaust cost £1,000 to add to the 240 PS turbocharged 2.0-litre Cupra.

The Cupra can be ordered in Inferi Black, Emocion Red, Luna Grey or Candy White.

Seat UK’s head of marketing, Steve Robertson, said: "The K1 styling kit gives the car even more road presence, and clearly recalls the look of our super-quick BTCC competitor.

"Together with the optional black or white Orion alloy wheels, it ensures the Cupra has an outstanding look to match its outstanding performance."

Bi-xenon headlights, complete with AFS dynamic bend, can be added for an extra £870.

Seat Leon is ‘undeniably green’

Spanish automobile manufacturer Seat believes that its Leon hatch is "undeniably" an environmentally-friendly vehicle.

The company comments that the vehicle has an official CO2 rating of approximately 161 g per km and gives 47.1 mpg to allow a top speed of 135 mph.

Seat placed the vehicle with the Ibiza and Altea and hailed them as "hot hatches with a conscience".

Steve Robinson, head of marketing at the automaker, states that the excitement offered by the sporty Leon is often surprising to drivers.

"Given the great economy and eco-performance of our TDI diesels it’s not surprising so many SEAT buyers are opting for one," he said.

Seat is a subsidiary of Volkswagen and was founded in 1950 by the Institute Nacional de Industria with the help of manufacturer Fiat.

Its headquarters can be found in Martorellio, Spain and throughout the world the company has 14,500 employees.

Celebrity chooses a new Seat

Singer and actor Duncan James has announced his new choice of car and rather than choose a Ferrari or a Porsche he has decided to take advantage of the new Seat Leon Cupra.

Mr James, who shot to fame in the UK boy band Blue, said he chose the Seat after taking a test drive and thinking it was "fantastic".

In addition, he was drawn to it because of the amount of power it has for a hatchback.

"When you do put your foot down you certainly know you’re in a high-performance car," he continued. "I love it!"

Clocking in with a top speed of 153 mph and able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds, the two-litre Seat Leon Cupra could be a good idea for younger drivers who are looking for both style and convenience.

The original Seat Leon hit the market in 1999.

Seat Leon Cupra goes on sale in the UK

Dealers across the UK have taken delivery of Seat’s most powerful production car to date, the new Leon Cupra, which goes on sale today.

This new model will be powered by a two-litre engine, enabling it to reach 62mph from a standstill in 6.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 153mph.

There are a number of enhancements over existing Leon models, including 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, bi-xenon headlights, racing-style bucket seats, lower ride height and aluminium front suspension components.

Also coming as standard is a twin-zone climate control system, four electric windows, steering wheel-mounted radio controls, a trip computer and cruise control.

Driving the new Leon Cupra will be an experience for all the senses, as the car also has a ‘Seat sound’ exhaust system, which produces a low rumble at low speeds and a rasping tone at high speeds.

Seat expects its new car to sell more in the UK than anywhere else in the world, following the popularity of the previous FR and Cupra models on the back of Seat’s participation in the British and World Touring Car Championships.
