Peugeot 207 offers motorists something more ‘unusual’

Motorists looking for a car that is slightly more unusual than the norm may find one of the vehicles from the Peugeot 207 range to be right up their street, it has been highlighted.

Writing for the Northern Echo, Nigel Burton indicates that the Outdoor version of the 207 SW could fit into a number of different classes.

Mr Burton comments that the vehicle is a "pseudo off-roader", which also happens to have "an elevated front suspension", alongside a "range-topping" trim level.

The vehicle tested by the reviewer was fitted with a 1.6-litre Hdi engine, which enables a driver to complete more than 50 miles per gallon of fuel.

Meanwhile, Mr Burton adds that this diesel engine also helped to improve the ride offered by the 207.

He remarks that the 207 is "an excellent motorway cruiser, with particularly good refinement, and has plenty of lowdown urge for smart getaways around town".

Interested motorists could opt to buy the Peugeot 207 SW in one of ten colours including Flamenco Red, Neysha Blue and Shark Grey.

Practicality strong with Peugeot 207 SW

Motorists who are tempted to buy the SW version of the Peugeot 207 over the Hatchback offering for practicality reasons will not be let down, it has been stated.

Writing a review of the Peugeot 207 SW Sport HDi 110 for CARkeys, David Finlay indicates that the cargo net in the boot is of particular use.

When completing his road test, Mr Finlay had the boot packed with his weekly shopping, but thanks to the net covering the many bags all the items were as they were left when he returned home.

He added that the drive to the supermarket features a testing road, full of hills, challenging corners and the odd plunge.

However, the vehicle stood up to the drive well and overall was described as a "splendid little car" by Mr Finlay.

Among the on-the-road statistics of the 207 SW are that it has a top speed of 120 miles per hour, while generating CO2 emissions of 131g/km and offering a combined fuel consumption 0f 56.4 miles to the gallon.

According to What Car?, the Peugeot 207 SW drives well and provides the same high-quality cabin that is witnessed in the 207 Hatchback.

Another saucy advert for used Peugeot 207 fans

Used Peugeot 207 drivers would have witnessed some saucy advertisements from the manufacturer over time and the latest in the sequence is no different.

The latest advertisement revolves around the new Peugeot 207 Verve, with a guy and a girl driving identical cars and serenading each other through the cars’ Bluetooth mobile phone connection.

One person the advert left an impression on was Ken Gibson, who then went on to write a review of the vehicle in the Sun.

He believes that despite the car portraying the look and feel of a sex machine in the advert, in fact it is "more cute than sexy".

However, he comments that it has a "sporty" edge through the inclusion of "a sharp set of alloy wheels, chrome front fog lights and subtle Verve badges".

Mr Gibson concludes by saying that "the Verve is the perfect example of just how much more sophisticated and roomy superminis have become in recent years".

Kim Basinger once featured in an advert for the manufacturer in a bid to enhance the appeal of the Peugeot 406.

Peugeot 207 drivers may wish to experience Biarritz

The Peugeot 207 line-up is set to grow in the near future following the introduction of a new model to the market.

Peugeot has unveiled the 207 Biarritz Special Edition, which is a model based around the previously recognisable SE vehicle.

Those interested in the vehicle could also pick it up with a host of optional extras including a panoramic glass roof and front fog lights.

The Biarritz is available in both three and five door forms and comes equipped with safety features such as driver and passenger airbags.

Furthermore, thieves may find it tougher to steal the vehicle thanks to the inclusion of remote central locking and an automatic boot and door locking feature.

Low road tax and emissions are also present in the vehicle’s diesel offering, with the Biarritz generating 117g/km.

Jeremy Clarkson stated in a review of the Peugeot 207 in the Times that he was surprised by how quickly the car zoomed away from a set of traffic lights and overall he "sort of liked it".

Peugeot 207 drivers have the chance to become ‘sexy’

Motorists looking to purchase a used Peugeot 207 may want to increase their sexiness by purchasing a vehicle from the Verve range.

Running alongside Peugeot’s new ‘DriveSexy’ advertising campaign, the manufacturer has released a range of special edition Verve models.

Among these is an updated Peugeot 207, which includes an upgraded Sport bumper design with integrated fog lights.

Furthermore, an additional selection of trim colours has been produced, with used car drivers now having the choice of Flamenco Red, Neysha Blue, Onyx Black and Aluminium Silver.

Both petrol and diesel 1.4-lire offerings are available for buyers, while the vehicle can also be purchased in three and five-door forms.

Meanwhile, air conditioning and BlueTooth capabilities are additional features of the enhanced specification.

Christian Stein, Peugeot’s UK marketing director, said: "The new Peugeot Verve Special Editions bring great value to our exceptional product range.

"Take a look if you can, because we’d ask – why drive predictable, when you can DriveSexy?"

The 207 also provides drivers with innovative storage solutions, as well as a contemporary-styled dashboard.

Peugeot prices to fall in wake of pre-Budget report

Peugeot has published details of the impact of the chancellor of the exchequer’s VAT cut on its range of cars.

In a bid to kick-start a struggling economy, Alistair Darling reduced the rate of VAT from 17.5 per cent to 15 per cent in his pre-Budget report, and this means that savings can be made on a range of products.

This includes Peugeot cars, with the full rate cut being passed on to customers by the car manufacturer from Monday, December 1st.

As a result, a five-door Peugeot 207 1.6 HDi 90 will cost £272 less on Monday than it does at present, and £607 will be knocked off the Peugeot 807.

"At first glance, a 2.5 per cent cut may not seem like a lot, but with the purchase of a product like a new car this saving becomes substantial and represents a real benefit," confirmed Ollie Griffin, product and pricing manager at Peugeot UK.

Although savings for Peugeot customers will be significant, Deloitte analysis suggests that the tax break will reduce the average £50 shopping bill by just 530.

Peugeot 207 coupe cabriolet comes out top in roll-over testing

The Peugeot 207 coupe cabriolet has been named as the highest-scoring car of three cabriolets subjected to roll-over testing by the Germany Automobile Club ADAC.

This is further good news for the model, which was recently awarded a five star assessment score by Euro NCAP.

According to Peugeot, the main reason behind the 207 coupe cabriolet’s excellent safety record is the standard fitment of active rear roll-over protection bars on all models, which is normally only available on more expensive vehicles.

When used in tandem with strengthened windscreen pillars, the bars form a protective zone for occupants in the event of an accident.

Further features of the Peugeot 207 coupe cabriolet include ABS, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Emergency Braking Assist as standard, in addition to driver’s Smart front airbag, passenger Smart airbag, side/head airbags, pretensioning and force limiting front seatbelts and three point Isofix child seat mountings on the front passenger seat.

Peugeot’s first coupe cabriolet was sold in 1934, and 623,000 versions of the model have been sold subsequently.

Reach for the sky

The new Peugeot 207 Cielo – Spanish for ‘sky’ – features a glass roof which gives a panoramic field of vision.

The special edition vehicle comes in three-door and five-door versions, with two petrol engine choices – a 1.4 litre 75 bhp or VTi 95 bhp.

It also has three metallic paint colours – Diablo Red, Neysha Blue and Aluminium.

Peugeot has already sold 118,000 of the ’207′ cars since its launch, and the new Cielo edition is based upon the popular ‘sport’ version of the car.

The Cielo also features cruise control.

New Peugeot 207 SW “great outdoors”

The new Peugeot 207 SW Outdoor will be available to drivers in the UK from November 2007, the French manufacturer has revealed.

Motorists can pick up the off-road style vehicle with 1.4-litre VTi 95 bhp or 1.6-litre VTi 120 bhp petrol engines, while two HDi diesel variants are also offered.

Peugeot has described the way the vehicle looks as "unique", as its increased ride height, bold exterior and alloy wheels all help it stand out from the pack.

Indeed, the vehicle will be making an appearance at the Frankfurt International Motor Show this week.

"The 207 SW Outdoor shares all the standard safety equipment with the 207 SW … Prices and UK specification will be announced nearer the launch date," the company commented.

Peugeot is Europe’s second largest automaker, trailing Volkswagen, although it was established some time earlier – as a bicycle manufacturer in 1882.

New green Peugeot offers ‘style without compromise’

A new car from Peugeot is the first to offer environmentally-friendly driving without any sacrifice to the motorist, it has been claimed.

The manufacturer stated that going green has previously involved compromising on size, style, price or fuel economy, but the new 207 ticks all the right boxes.

With a 1.6 engine that does 62 miles to the gallon, the family unit has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and falls into band B of the government’s road-charging tax classifications, meaning it would cost £35 per year to keep on the road.

"A car is generally the second largest purchase a person will make after a house and they certainly want to be proud of it … The 207 1.6 HDi 90 [is] a stylish car with a high specification," said Pierre Louis Colin, managing director of the company.

The firm will launch the Peugeot 308 concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007.
